VOL XXV NO. 10 October 2007 Dearly beloved in Christ, Greetings to you in the precious Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! We are living in a post modern world where we claim that the world is in our finger tip. Because of the technological advancement, the world is considered as a global village where we can have access with anybody who lives in any part of the world. In this kind of a scientifically developed age - religion or spirituality is neglected in many parts of the world. People are becoming more materialistic in their outlook and approach and they are more concerned about materialistic blessings than spiritual blessings. The religious leaders are also trying to re-interpret their Vedas or scripture or other religious books to suit the contemporary situation. But the truth which is revealed in the Bible is the perfect revelation of God. We cannot add anything to it and we cannot delete anything from it. In our generation, there are people who try to interpret the Bible according to the present scientific discoveries. In a way it is good. But the problem with scientific truths - they are not perfect or permanent truths. Scientific truths may change according to the advancement of science and technology. So today's truth may not be a truth tomorrow. Since the bible is not a book which mainly deals with science, we need not have to interpret the Bible according to each scientific discovery. The basic thing we must understand is that, Biblical truths are permanent truths. It is the revelation of God. Our Lord Jesus Christ who is revealed trough the bible is also the same yesterday, today and forever. King Solomon was the wisest king who ever lived on the face of the earth. He was very rich. He tried to experience everything a man can enjoy in the human life and finally he concluded it like this, "Fear God, and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of everyone. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil." (Ecclesiastes 12: 13-14) As we celebrate our Youth Sunday on the 14th of this month, I just want to remind our youth the words of this wise man who experienced all the pleasure of this world: "Remember your creator in the day of your youth; before the days of trouble come and the years draw near when you say, I have no pleasure in them." (Ecclesiastes 12:1) This is the limitation with the pleasure that the world can give you. But if you can find happiness in Jesus - it is eternal happiness. Life with Jesus Christ is a thrilling experience. Try Jesus. Taste an see that the Lord is good. As you know by this time, our jubilee celebration has been postponed to November 3rd and our confirmation services will be held on November 4th. Our Moderator, the Most Rev. Dr. B.P. Sugandhar and the CSI Madhya Kerala Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Thomas Samuel and 5 other CSI bishops are also attending the Jubilee celebration. Kindly pray for the different arrangements in this regard. Also pray for our youngsters who are preparing for their confirmation. May the good Lord bless you all. Thanking you.
Yours in His Service,
Rev. Kurian Mathew |
